Aurora Herbs & Bodywork

The holiday season can be very stressful. Everyone is running around buying presents, attending work parties and gatherings with family and or friends, cooking, attending children’s holiday shows and a vast array of other activities. While I will take this opportunity to say a massage gift certificate makes a great gift for a loved one and will help ease their stress, I would really like to give you ideas to help you during this stressful time. I understand that you may not have time to come in and get a massage, but there are other, simple things that you can do to help alleviate your stress.

Aromatherapy is a great way to help ease stress and can be easily incorporated in a variety of ways. You can take a hot Epsom salt bath and add your favorite essential oil in the Epsom salt before placing it in the bath water. I also add baking soda to the water when I use Epsom salts. It softens the water so that the salt is not as drying to the skin. Try adding a drop or two of your favorite oil into your shampoo. Squirt the shampoo into you hand and add the oil. Gently massage the shampoo into you scalp. Make sure you massage the entire scalp. You will not only receive the benefits of the fragrance, but you will also feel more relaxed from the scalp massage. You can also diffuse your favorite oil in the room you are working in. Don’t worry if you don’t have a diffuser. There are several ways to diffuse an oil. The simplest is placing a couple drops on a cotton ball and placing it near you. You can put the cotton ball near your computer or on your nightstand. I hope these suggestions help you. I know the holidays are a stressful time. Remember, you can’t give from an empty vessel. Please take time for yourself. Aromatherapy is one way to help you do this. You can always get a massage when the holidays are over.
